Rod & Mary Harrington
Made in Dorset. Concert at Carey Hall, 12.30-2.30
This couple have been singing together for many years. Rod ran the Blackdowns Folk Club in Somerset before holding regular traditional singarounds for the last 25 years in one of the West Country’s most unspoilt pubs, the Rose and Crown, known as Eli’s, at Huish Episcopi. For some 13 years Rod also had a ‘Folk and Roots’ radio programme on BBC Somerset.
Mary’s career was in music education including involvement in youth folk bands. Both have also been involved in three Dorset productions, the brainchildren of writer Sophie Wright from Wareham – ‘To Win the Day’, ‘Salt on the Shore’ and ‘Two Nations’.
